The start of the “Purpose” tour

Justin Bieber’s “Purpose” world tour – the most expected one of 2016 – began on 9th of March in Seattle. This is by far the most hyped tour of today and is expected to be a success, since Biebs’ latest album – “Purpose” – is full of hits and billboard toppers. As a matter of fact, the first concert of the tour, which was held in Seattle two days ago, aroused even more hype than we all expected because the show was fantastic and the special effects on stage were also on point. Justin’s performance, on the other hand, was downright impeccable and ,alongside his crew, they made a great show.

A lot of questions before the start of the tour were raised on what’s Justin Bieber going to wear during the shows. Karla Welch (Biebs’ stylist) did mention before that we’re going to see some Fear of God designs by Jerry Lorenzo along with some Raf Simons pieces and custom-made T-shirts. Justin Bieber will also be rocking Rick Owens, Saint Laurent and of course, his sponsors, Calvin Klein. Here are some images from the tour opener in Seattle:

After a fantastic opener, we can only assume that the best is still yet to come and with the tour being scheduled to end on November 29 at the O2 arena in London, Bieber still has to cross the USA, Canada and Europe for a total of 114 shows.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis crack it once again

Not many have had such an explosive breakthrough in the rap industry as Macklemore, being rewarded with 4 Grammy’s along with his DJ/producer Ryan Lewis on their first album: “The Heist”, which also topped Billboard 200 for several weeks. Now with their second studio album – “This Unruly Mess I’ve Made” – the duo have cracked the top 4 on Billboard 200 after just 1 week.

“This Unruly Mess I’ve Made” appeared to be a more serious album when it comes to its compositions and messages, unlike their previous one where singles like Thrift Shop, Can’t Hold Us and Same Love stormed into the Billboard hot 100 for their friendly to the public beats, topping also numerous radio charts worldwide. Tracks like “Kevin”, “White Privilege  II”, “Growing up”, “Light Tunnels” or “Buckshot” highlight a slightly more serious collection this time. However, the debut single of “The Unruly Mess I’ve Made”- “Downtown”-still has that typical Macklemore-esque beat for a fun track good for a dance off. The album features artists like Ed Sheeran, Leon Bridges, Chance the Rapper, Jamila Woods and many others.

Overall, the Seattle hip-hop duo nailed it once again with an album that will surely last some time on the charts and one which already shows good signs from the critics and the public.

LeBron James had to do with Lamar’s “untitled unmastered” album release

Believe it or not, LeBron James had a lot to do with Kendrick Lamar’s latest pseudo-album named “untitled unmastered”. We know he is an influential person and that his twitter, instagram and facebook accounts are fun to follow, but we never imagined LeBron as being involved in a rap album release.

Well, apparently, after Kendrick’s outstanding performance at the Grammy’s , he reached out to Anthony Tiffith (also known as Top Dawg) – Kendrick Lamar’s executive producer; to release as soon as possible the rumoured untitled album.

Unexpectedly, James got the producer to rethink it all…

After taking some days off, he actually released “untitled unmastered”. The first news came from his Instagram acc. where he announced King Kendrick’s return, while mentioning LeBron for his viral and spiritual contribution in a video.

After all, it was a thing from one King to another and the fans actually loved it, plus we got to see that LeBron is officially a declared Kendrick Lamar fan.

Kanye reveals new album title

screen-shot-2015-04-16-at-8-54-18-am.png

It hasn’t been long since Kanye West released his 7th album, titled (in the end) “The Life of Pablo”, and already Ye’ has announced that a new album is coming this summer. This would be Kanye’s eight studio LP, making 2016 one of the busiest and most prolific years  for the Chicago artist, who turns 39 this summer.

The album also has a name which has been revealed by the artist on his twitter page earlier today. And the title is : “Turbo Grafx 16”, after the name of a home video game console from the 80’s. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned so far from Kanye’s latest album release, is that this title will probably not stick.

Rihanna and Drake back to “work”?

rihanna-ft-drake-work-lyrics

The long awaited video of the project collaboration between Rihanna and Drake has finally been released. A lot of hype has been around this collab because of the 2 artists’ past together and while we already knew that ,lyrically speaking, the song is no masterpiece, at least the video shouldn’t have disappointed ( which it did ).

There are actually 2 videos combined in one. The first part is pretty bad with a lot of pointless twerking and to be honest, it doesn’t even make any sense. Usually after such a bad start to a video people leave, but if in in case you do stick with it till the second part, you’d finally be able to see some action between the 2 of ’em. This part is more romantic since the feelings and the tension are at last there. Ultimately, this is what it was all about in that hype and stuff …right? RiRi and Mister “Hotline Bling” and their dance moves together.

Overall, a project which cannot be considered one of the best for neither of them, while a good question is how much will it really last on Billboard’s hot 100?

Why “The Life Of Pablo” lives up to the hype

TLOP

Kanye West’s new album , “The life of Pablo”, was, so far, the most expected album of 2016. With featurings from artists like Chance the Rapper, Rihanna, The Weekend, and many other, it qualifies as one of the best hip-hop albums of the past five years.(Kanye calls it a Gospel album, stating this to the 20.000 people audience at Maddison square Garden, last week during the Yeezy Season 3 premiere).

But still, the question is: Does it live up to the hype?

Kanye West is arguably one of the most loved, criticised, copyed, innovative and despised artists in the world at the moment. And even though he has his fare share of flaws, one of his biggest achievements is that he managed to gather all of this mixed feelings and use them in the creative process of his music.

As years went by, we have seen Kanye reinventing himself, going from the nostalgia of ” College Dropout” to the multy-layered aproach of “Late Registration”,  or from the beautifull madness in ” MBDTF” to the violent musical riot in “Yeezus”. And at the same time,  Kanye sparkled more and more controversy around him, most of this controversy being caused by his love for arousing statements or actions…

And so, after a year in which Ye’ was constantly in the public eye, the hype arround his album release growing more and more, he manages to keep every distinctive element in his music legacy, and integrating it in the album that is “The life of Pablo”.

From madness to love, and from violence to nostalgia, “TLOP” is truly, all of Kanye transformed into music.
